DO YOU SEE THE DRAGON IN YOUR LIFE

OR IN THIS PLATE
EARLY CALIFORNIA BUSINESS WOMAN J. CHAPMAN-BAILEY
SAW THE DRAGON IN HER LIFE. PAINTED AROUND 1919.
DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA WHAT HER DRAGON WAS?
WHAT WAS HAPPENING THEN. WHY WOULD A "PROPER" LA ARTIST PAINT THIS HALLUCINATION? SHE LIVED IN DOWNTOWN LA. AND TAUGHT AND SUPPLIED PORCLEINE TO UPPER CLASS? LADYS FOR THEIR HOBBY. WERE THAT MANY LADIES BUYING AND LEARNING TO MAKE THIS BUSINESS WOMEN WEALTHY. HER LIFE ENDED IN CONTROVERSY, WAS IT SUICIDE OR THE NEW GAS HEATER UNVENTILATED. DIFFERENT FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE DIFFERENT
HER-STORY. NOTE THE THE AGE OF THE ROSES, IN FULL BLOOM. ONE ROSE LOOKS LIKE ITS BEEN MUNCHED BY THE DRAGON, OR IS THAT A TA-MAY-TA WORM. FAMILY MIST STIR EAZES.

YUCCA PULL

YUCCA IS A NATIVE PLANT THAT HAS MANY USES IN PREHISTORY TIME. THEY ARE STILL USED AS HEDGE FENCES IN OAXACA BETWEEN CORN FIELDS. YUCCA WAS USED AS A FIBER MATERIAL FOR SOME WEAVING OF BASKETS AND BAGS, AND OTHER ITEMS. FRESH YUCCA HAS THE TEXTURE AND TASTE OF SUGAR CANE, NOT QUITE SO SWEET. I BELIEVE THE NATIVES ROASTED THE ROOT BULB. HAVENT TRIED THAT YET. GOPHERS AND GROUND SQUIRRLS LIKE TO EAT YUCCA, A GOOD AND BAD THING. RODENTS LEAVE MORE IMPORTANT PLANTS ALONE . BUT THEY ALSO PROSPER. THATS WHAT MY DOGS ARE FOR ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE ONE. HE IS A RATTER WE WILL BE TRANSFERING THE YUCCA TO THE OUTWARD BOUNDRIES OF THE FARM. YUCCAS ROOT EASILY, ARE A GOOD SCREEN IF YOU HAVE ROOM. THEY GROW AT A MEDIUN RATE BUT ONCE MATURE CAN BE VERY LARGE. THE FLOWERS ARE HARD AND WAXEY AND CAN BE STRUNG. IT HAS A LITE FRAGRANCE. WATER STORED IN THE ROOT BULB
